For most of the travellers who stay in Agra city or those who drive to Jaipur, we usually recommend Fatehpur Sikri, the once capital of the Mughal Empire. The site have a lot of ruins and is a must see site for those who have time in their itinerary. Travellers who do a day trip to Agra from Delhi, we usually recommend them to skip the site as it take time to travel to the structure and during there already fixed itinerary it’s hard to manage the timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mehtab Bagh or the moon garden has its own history which most of the travellers visiting the taj mahal aren’t aware off. The sites is on the other side of the river where lies the taj mahal. Travellers are not familiar with the story or myth that surrounds the site and are often amazed when we explain them the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While visiting the taj mahal, we try to cover all the key sites of the city that also includes the famous food places. The best food of Agra which is famous for its sweetness and crunchy flavor is the Petha (dried sweet pumpkin), the sweet originated during the Mughal era and is still a favourite snack for anyone travelling to the city. We often take our clients to hygienic restaurants but for travellers who want to experience the real food of the city, we take them to devi ram for the Bedai and Sabzi snack or to the sadar Bazar for the food of the locals. One time, our guest from USA tried the hottest and spiciest snack on the street at sadar Bazar and had to run to cool it down with a cold yogurt drink called lassi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Agra city has a big market for arts and souvenirs. Each part of the city is sponsored by different artists who promote and sell the art of the Mughals. Marble is the key art of the city and most of the travellers try to grab a souvenirs of it, which means they take a part of the Taj mahal with them back home. Jewellery and carpet are two other art which has been famous for centuries and even local people often collect them for their houses. The stone are collected from all across India and are skillfully placed in gold and silver jewellery to make a masterpiece which has value and appreciation for anyone who buys it. The other famous product which are bought and produced majorly across the city is leather bag, coats, purse and belts which are famous across india. Agra also has the famous Petha, which is a sweet which originated in the Mughal era but still hold a special place in the hearts of the people of Agra. We originally don’t promote the sales and purchase of souvenirs and gifts but for those clients who want to take souvenir back with them we recommend, Agra marble for marble products, Art Emporium for carpets, Sanskriti for jewellery and Panchhi petha for petha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was a client who came from Brazil and booked a day tour of the Taj mahal from Delhi. The tour covered the famous and magnificent Taj mahal and the amazing and grand Agra fort. The client upon arrival asked us to show us the city which most foreigners are not familiar with and so we took him to the old city of Agra. The city still flourish behind the walls of Agra fort. There the client got to experience the rickshaw ride which passed though the narrow lanes of the city. A city with unique fragrances and colors. He got to know how the local have been living in the chaos and he even got to try the local food on the street and even interacted with the local who shared different stories of the past, stories which showed him how time changes the world and the people living in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are a lot of tourist who often due to shortage of time just experience the taj mahal and had to leave. Which leaves them disappointed and they contact us about what they could have seen during the tour. All sites have their own history which needs to be visited to get a bigger picture of the culture and life’s of the Mughal. Some client are disappointed during the tour as the they can’t spend the whole day at one site alone. As we follow an itinerary and has to show client fragments of the city to them, we have to manage time and set times for every monument we visit. You can visit the Agra city in a day tour from Delhi<\/a> but for some travelers it’s not enough as they want to cover and explore the other least important monuments as well. For this we recommend our travelers to spend 2 days in Agra. Day 1 they would cover all the famous sites of the mughal and enjoy the famous cuisine of the city and on day 2 they cover the taj mahal at sunrise, which is the most amazing time to visit the site as its less crowded and has a golden and pinkish glow on its white marble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Each site is to be covered and explored after\u00a0 the taj mahal. Agra fort is usually visited just after the Taj mahal. It is said by the guides that the story of the Taj mahal continues in Agra fort. Later you visit Itmad-ud-Daula tomb (baby taj) which is to be visited before lunch and you spend around 30 minutes to appreciate the art and intricate designs of the structure. Later after lunch you can drive to Fatehpur Sikri, which can take around 40 minutes. Upon arrival in the city of Fatehpur you can explore the ruins and can drive back to Agra, perfectly timing your arrival at Mehtab Bagh, the sunset point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are a lot of options for client who want to spend their evening seeing the taj mahal from a roof top while sipping a cup of Indian masala tea.
