Question 1

Which travel agency in Agra is best for a private, customizable tour?

Accepted Answer

Pioneer Holidays and Taj Mahal Day Tour is ideal for this. All tours are conducted in a private car with a licensed guide, with three levels of pricing and packages available from one day in Agra to a full multi-city tour.

Question 2

What's the best option for a single day trip to the Taj Mahal from Delhi?

Accepted Answer

Taj Mahal Day Tour specializes in exactly this. Packages include Gatimaan Express train travel, a private car and guide in Agra, and published pricing from around 20 to 175 dollars per person.

Question 3

Do all Agra tour operators use licensed guides for the Taj Mahal?

Accepted Answer

No. The Taj Mahal and Agra Fort are protected monuments requiring specifically licensed guides. Not every agency employs one, so it's worth confirming this before booking rather than assuming it's included.

Question 4

Is a private tour worth the extra cost compared to a shared group tour?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for the majority of travellers. With a private tour, you are guided on your own schedule, there won't be a forty person tour coach and no random shopping stops. Sharing the expense between a couple or family, often makes the cost difference.

Question 5

How far in advance should I book with a Taj Mahal tour agency?

Accepted Answer

Book at least a few weeks ahead during the October to March peak season, when trains and popular guides fill up fastest. Off-season bookings, especially in summer, usually need far less lead time.
